My computer has gotten quite slow the past year or two and it might have some worms or viruses.
these are some of the things I can't do anymore:
- can't access Internet Explorer or Windows media player and i have to use other alternatives for them
- cant access the task manager
- cant search for a file in my comp.
- cant' open a simple text document without it closing right away
- keep getting error messages every time i close a folder
- and much more..
will getting a new hard drive fix all my problems?
i wouldn't worry about getting a new hard drive.. but i would reformat and start over… make sure your virus protection is always on and up to date, make sure your firewall is always on, make sure you use add-ware, spy-ware and a registry cleaner and do a defrag every week… and keep it up so you don't have to reformat again

yes but a big one 20 gig or more the more the better or if you get more stick memory

Maybe, and maybe not, Have you checked the condition of the processor, motherboard, etc. They all factor in on the performance of any computer….
A new hard drive wouldn't hurt though…

Uhh, dont know what you mean about getting a new hard drive but I would reccommend reinstalling Windows, back up your files and start new.

if it can't access anything take it to best buy.if it acceses internet then buy a registry program called regcure and it should get the work done.

If you have data you want to recover, you will need a second HDD. If you have undeteted viri on it you may screw up the new hdd if you connect them together.
It may be best to just wipe the exixting hdd and use your restore CD or your winXP CD to build a new image.

More than likely, getting a new hard drive will help rid you of viruses but it sounds like your comp may also be out of date. If this is the case, getting a new hard drive will only lead to a spiral effect of having to get all new pieces! I recently replaced my video card thinking it would be simple. HA! I had to replace my CPU because it wasn't fast enough and then my power source because the old one was weak and then I had to get a new fan because it was running hot! By the time I was done, I had a whole new comp! Point is, if your other comp parts are old maybe you should just invest in a whole new system. Good luck!

I think there must have some regsitry errors and spyware in you PC to slow it down.
