An Error has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing.

Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
If you are installing from a CD, there might be a problem with the disc; try cleaning the disc or using another disc.
If you are installing from the network, it is possible that not all of the files were copied correctly to your disk drive. Run the disk checking utility on your installation drive from the Recovery Console and start setup again.

Clearly the XP CD is bad. I tried other XP CD's and It says the CD signature is bad.
Any suggestions?
try making the cd into a virtual cd and mount it for repair

This is a common error I've experienced when carrying out most of XP installations.
The main culprit for the same is the memory (RAM). Try to use a different ram module in your memory slots and then try again.
you can borrow from your friends if you do not want to buy, also i doubt that you must of tried to recover or reinstall XP because you used to get error messages on your screen. Cause is the same problem, RAM.
try this method, might work.
