i phoned the shop where i bought and they said laptops don't come with recovery discs any more?
Check under recovery manager in the start menu, then advanced options, is there a recovery disc creation option? This lets you create your own back up discs ( if its there)

hi there, i bought a fujitsu esprimo the other day, it came with a vista restore cd and a xp pro restore cd. basically these cd's just restore your laptop to factory config.. which is really cool. but i didnt see any restore cd's. i guess the reason for this is that the OS actually come with system restore and backup options.
what has gone wrong with your laptop? does it not boot?? i always give the last known good config a go, most of the time it does work. keep tapping F8 on startup and then when you see a screen with startup options select the 'last known good config' once you're back in.. be sure to back up all your work and perhaps also go to system restore and restore the settings to when the OS was quite stable. always worth doing..

It's pretty much illegal for them to sell you a computer that does not come with an official install disc for the operating system that's on it, but they seem to get away with it all the time. Personally, I would demand a full copy of Windows with any PC I bought or no deal. If not that, then the price of it taken off the machine.

hi mate
if a laptop or p.c dont come with a recovery disk then there should be a recovery partition built into the laptops hard drive
this can normally be accessed by pressing a function key(f10 or f12) and then you get a choice on wether to recover your laptop without losing data or a complete recovery and loss of all data
the partition is created by a program similar to norton ghost and acronis true image, the partition holds a ghost image of your operating system and the essential drivers, firmware and programs specific to your laptop
however its unheard for manufactueres not to package some kind of recovery system with their p.c,s and laptops,it may be the guy in the shop is mis-leading you
your best option is to go directly to the horses mouth and ring or e-mail Fujitsu Siemens
telephone : +44 (0) 8702 434390
e-mail contact form : http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/support/contact/contact.html
if your laptops still under warranty then you shouldnt have to pay anything for your recovery disk however if its out of warranty a minimal charge may be applied
hope this helps
good luck mate !

You should have an insatalation disk with your pc and any other relevent software drivers for sound, graphics etc..Restore discs aren't always necessary as they are installed on the windows installation disk..
If you need to restore, you can go into start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore and restore to a previous time or day..I dont recommend restoring back further than 5 days…
