I want to backup vista. It came vista built in so if i reformat will it already have vista after reformat or do i need a installation disc. Please explain. I was going to make a recovery disc but does that backup files or back up vista itself (or both)?I have dvds to back it up. Please explain backup for me.
Your restore will do just that. When you reformat your system it will completly erase everything and restore them to factory settings. Whatever sensitive files you have on your computer, make sure you copy them to disk or external hard drive. You should have a restore partition available already without having to use any disks or anything for the reformat. BACK UP ALL OF YOUR FILES… MUSIC, PHOTOS, DOCUMENTS AND SO FORTH BEFORE YOU RESTORE.

i believe the Vista recovery discs format your HDD and reinstall Vista
if you want to make a recovery disc of vista and your files, you need the software called Norton Ghost…..it will take a image of your HDD and make recovery discs of it, then you just boot up using the the Norton Ghost recovery discs and use those to restore everything

ok, backup discs put you right back from scratch…no data or anything. now depending on why you need to do this it might just be better to do a system restore to before you had the problem. this will delete the data you got in-between these two times. if you have any more questions or more information for me to help with send me an email and i’ll be glad to help. good luck.

You can buy Norton Ghost to make an image. Depending on the brand of pc, some have a procedure in the start menu that will make ONE set of dvds (Restore) for you of the entire hard drive and everything you have put on there.
