I have an HP Pavilion Model #4443. It currently has Win 98 on it. I wanted to upgrade it to 98 SE, which I now have and bought legally btw. The downloaded package came w/ Win 98 upgrade to 98 SE, Win 95 upgrade to 98 SE, 98 SE Full Version, the 98 SE boot disk, and the Product Keys for all three. I've already tried twice using the Win 98 upgrade to 98 SE, but it stops w/ 19 minutes to go while it is scanning for plug and play devices. I emailed the website I got everything from and they said to put the boot disk in and gave me some directions. Problem is, my floppy drive is no longer working, so I had to burn the boot disk onto CD. That didn't work out. The second time, I even unplugged all the plug and play devices that didn't come w/ the computer. There is nothing incompatible anyway. I want to reformat, but don't know how. I have the Reformat and Recovery disk for Win 98. But I want to start over so I can use the Win 98 SE Full Version. And what about getting back my old drivers??
huh? All you need to do is make sure you have the basics. a floppy, hard drive and cd rom. When you boot up go into your bios, I think it's F8 in 98? I know it's del in xp. make sure everything is recognized. You might have to input your hard drive info if it isn't detected. Also did you set your jumpers? HD=master, CD ROM=slave. If everything is recognized, hit F10,y, Enter. pop in the 98 cd and let er rip
