My computer suddenly crashed due to an unknown hardware failure. The drives are still in readable condition, but Windows XP file protection isn't allowing me access to my data. I want to access the protected data, and need someone to get the data intact. Has anyone ever experienced this? If so what did you do? Had anyone gone to a place that does data recovery? if so how much did it cost? And where? I possbile, please include a link to a place. Thanks!
create a bootable CD from BartPE. Not sure how it will deal with file protection but if you can't get them that way.
Create a linux bootable disc and move the files you want after booting.
Data recovery services are extremely expensive. Several years ago, it cost $1000 to look at your drive to determine if it was save-able. That cost did not include the recovery.
For future reference, make a non-protected, non-connected backup.

Data recovery can be very expensive.
You could take it too a local repair shop and they could give you an estimate.
If it was me I would pull out the drive and use a USB to IDE/SATA adapter. This will make your hard drive act like an external hard drive. Then get the data by plugging into another pc

You should be able to put this hard drive in another running computer and access the data just fine.
