Restore My Files

A couple days ago my computer detected a virus so i started a scan but i had to stop it because it was late and night and needed to go to sleep. So the next day when I started up the computer, there was messages popping up saying you have a virus start scan now, things like that. So I restarted the scan. BUT my dad decided to stop the scan and do a recovery. He set the recovery to go back to July 1, 2008 and when the recovery finished the computer restarted and said thank you for purchasing you HP! We checked to see what happened and every file on the computer was gone. There were so many pictures and work that we needed. Is there anything I can do to get all my files back?? Is there anyplace that can do it for me?? Please help me!! Im really upset about this.. Thanks

If your Dad did a system restore, you would not lose your files. However, if he did a factory restore, then you would lose everything. You can try this; Click on Start. Click Computer. Right click the (C:) Drive.Click Open. Look for a folder that says, Windows Old. If you see this folder, then everything you can’t find should be on there.
Remember, before you do any procedure on your computer, Back Up All Of Your Important Information! Copy your pictures etc.. to a DVD or CD or a Flash drive.
